1. Rules & Regulations

  • Venue: PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (PSG IMSR) Cricket Ground, Coimbatore.
  • Tournament dates: 26 and 27 January 2027 (Tuesday and Wednesday), or as notified by the Organizing Committee.
  • Match timings: 6:00 AM onwards (day matches only).
  • Detailed fixtures will be published subsequently. Every participating team is assured a minimum of two league matches, subject to the final tournament format.
  • The top teams from each group qualify for the knockout stage, consisting of semifinals and a final, depending on the number of entries.
  • Fixtures and group allocations will be finalized through an online meeting with the respective Team Captains and subsequently communicated to all participating teams.
  • Only IAP Life Members are eligible to participate.
  • Lunch, refreshments and drinking water will be provided to all registered participants.
  • Team transportation, if arranged, will be notified separately. Accommodation will be provided to participating teams for two nights on a sharing basis.

2. Team Composition

  • Each participating State IAP Branch shall provide the official team name for all tournament records and communications.
  • Each State IAP Branch shall nominate one Team Manager or Team Captain to coordinate with the Organizing Committee. All registration, fixtures, jersey details, reporting instructions and updates will be coordinated through that nominee.
  • A maximum of 15 players may be registered in each squad.
  • A minimum of two players above 45 years of age must be included in the Playing XI for every match.
  • One Team Manager and one Coach may accompany each team.
  • The Playing XI shall be selected from the registered squad before each match.
  • A player may represent only one State or Team during the tournament. Violation may result in disqualification of the player and the concerned team.

3. Registration

  • Each State IAP Branch shall submit the complete team list to the Organizing Committee within the notified deadline. Registration closes on 31 October 2026.
  • The team list shall include: full name, mobile number, email address, Central IAP Membership Number, jersey size and jersey number.
  • No change in the registered squad will be permitted after the closing date, except under exceptional circumstances and with prior approval of the Organizing Committee.

4. Reporting

  • Teams must report at the venue at least 30 minutes before their scheduled match.
  • A minimum of nine players must be present at the scheduled match time.
  • Failure to report within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time will result in a walkover. The opposing team will be awarded full points.

5. Tournament Format

  • The tournament format may be modified depending on the number of participating teams.
  • Proposed format: league stage — 10 overs per side; semifinals — 12 overs per side; final — 15 overs per side.
  • The final format and number of qualifying teams will be determined by the Organizing Committee after registration closes.

6. Playing Conditions

  • League matches: 10 overs per side; maximum two overs per bowler; at least five bowlers must be used.
  • Semifinals: 12 overs per side; maximum three overs per bowler; only two bowlers may bowl a maximum of three overs each; at least five bowlers must be used.
  • Final: 15 overs per side; maximum three overs per bowler; at least five bowlers must be used.
  • Powerplay: first three overs in league matches, first four overs in semifinals and first five overs in the final.
  • During the Powerplay, only two fielders are permitted outside the 30-yard circle.

7. Cricket Laws

  • Matches shall follow the applicable Laws of Cricket, with tournament-specific modifications.
  • Tennis ball cricket will be played. Approved match balls will be provided by the Organizing Committee.
  • A new red heavy tennis ball will be provided at the beginning of each new innings. The brand and type will be intimated by the Organizing Committee at a later date.

8. Extras and Bowling Conditions

  • Wides and No Balls shall be awarded according to the tournament rules.
  • A Free Hit shall apply after every No Ball.
  • Byes are allowed. Leg Byes are not allowed. LBW does not apply.
  • A runner is not permitted. Throw bowling is strictly prohibited.

9. Substitute Players

  • A maximum of three fielding substitutions are permitted during a match.
  • Substitute fielders may not bat or bowl. Substitutions require approval from the match officials.

10. Tie Matches

  • League matches: points may be shared or Net Run Rate considered, as decided by the Tournament Committee.
  • Knockout matches: a Super Over will determine the winner.
  • The Tournament Committee may adopt an alternative tie-breaking procedure if tournament circumstances require it.

11. Umpires and Match Officials

  • Umpires shall be appointed by the Organizing Committee. The decision of the on-field umpires is final.
  • The Tournament Referee and Organizing Committee reserve the right to intervene in exceptional circumstances.

12. Code of Conduct

  • Players shall maintain discipline and sportsmanship throughout the tournament and respect officials, opponents, volunteers, organizers and spectators.
  • Abuse of officials, opponents or volunteers attracts disciplinary action. Misconduct may result in warning, suspension or disqualification.
  • Alcohol consumption, smoking and prohibited substances are strictly prohibited within the playing area and sports venue.

13. Dress Code and Team Equipment

  • Jersey colour will be finalized through an online meeting with Team Captains in coordination with the Organizing Committee.
  • Teams shall wear uniform jerseys with player numbers. White or coloured cricket shoes with rubber soles are permitted.
  • Appropriate sports attire is mandatory. Protective equipment is strongly recommended.
  • Tournament T-shirts will be provided to registered players only.
  • Teams shall carry their own black lowers or track pants and maintain uniform team attire throughout the tournament.
  • Match balls, bats and wicketkeeping gloves will be provided as specified by the Organizing Committee.
  • Teams may also bring their own bats, gloves, pads, helmets and other personal protective equipment.

14. Interrupted Matches

  • In case of rain, bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the number of overs may be reduced at the Organizing Committee's discretion.
  • Match officials will communicate revised playing conditions.
  • If a result cannot be obtained, the Organizing Committee shall decide the method for determining the winner in accordance with tournament regulations. Its decision is final.

15. Protests and Appeals

  • Any protest must be submitted in writing within 15 minutes of completion of the match, accompanied by a ₹1,000 protest fee.
  • The fee is refunded if the protest is upheld and forfeited if rejected.
  • The Tournament Committee's decision is final and binding.

16. Awards

  • Champions Trophy; Runners-up Trophy; Man of the Match; Player of the Tournament; Best Batter; Best Bowler.

17. Conference Registration

  • Conference registration is mandatory for all players participating in the Cricket Tournament.
  • All registered players will be eligible for the Early Bird Conference Registration Tariff, subject to the applicable Early Bird registration deadline and terms notified by the PEDICON 2027 Organizing Committee.

18. Important Notes

  • Last date for registration: 31 October 2026.
  • The Organizing Committee may amend or modify these rules in the interest of fair play and the smooth conduct of the tournament.
  • Matters not covered by these rules shall be decided by the PEDICON 2027 Sports Committee. Its decision is final and binding on all participating teams and players.
