IAP IPA International Quiz
A collaborative effort of Indian Academy of Pediatrics, International Pediatric Association and Pedicon 2027
Overview
The International Pediatric Quiz 2026-27 is a collaborative effort of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, International Pediatric Association, and Pedicon 2027. This prestigious competition provides a platform for final-year pediatric trainees to showcase their knowledge and compete on an international stage.
Quiz Format & Structure
The quiz will be conducted in two stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Rounds (Online)
The preliminary rounds will be held online from November 1–14, 2026, and will be conducted in three languages:
- ✓ English
- ✓ French
- ✓ Spanish
These rounds will be hosted on the Zoom platform with anti-cheating features. The Quiz Master will present questions using PowerPoint, and teams will have 15 seconds to respond. Each team will answer only direct questions, and unanswered questions will not be passed to other teams.
Types of Questions
- Timed single-best response questions
- Picture-based questions
- Video-based questions
- Wager-type questions
- Rapid Fire Questions
Stage 2: Grand Finale (Onsite)
The grand finale will be held at the Codissa Trade Centre, Coimbatore, India on January 30, 2027 during PEDICON. SIX teams will compete in the grand finale:
- ✓ Winner of the English round
- ✓ Winner of the Spanish round
- ✓ Winner of the French round
- ✓ Runner-up from English round
- ✓ Wild card entry from India (Host nation)
The final will feature buzzer rounds, clinical case scenarios, and audio-visual questions.
Team Requirements
- Team Size: Each team shall have TWO members
- Team Nominations: Each member society of the IPA can nominate up to two teams
- Selection Process: The process of selection of individual teams can be decided by the member society
- Approval: Only nomination from the President/Secretary of the member society will be accepted

Question Bank
The questions will cover a comprehensive range of pediatric topics:
- ✓ General Pediatrics
- ✓ Neonatology
- ✓ Pediatric Subspecialties (Cardiology, Neurology, Emergency Medicine)
- ✓ Recent Advances and Guidelines
Reference Materials
The questions are based on standard textbooks in pediatrics, including:
- • Nelson's Textbook of Pediatrics
- • Forfar and Arneil's Textbook of Pediatrics
- • Oski's Textbook of Pediatrics
- • WHO Guidelines
The scrutiny panel's decision is final.
Awards & Recognition
All participants will receive certificates. Here are the prize details:
- • Additional prizes will be awarded to finalists
- • All participants will be recognized in the IAP newsletter and website
- • All participants will have the opportunity to present an oral abstract at PEDICON 2027
Finals Logistics
- ✓ Complimentary local travel in Coimbatore
- ✓ Complimentary accommodation for four days
- ✓ Complimentary registration for PEDICON 2027
Note: Travel allowance will NOT be provided for travel to India or within the country.
Quiz Committee
The quiz will be overseen by Quiz Masters with Dr. Santosh Soans as International Quiz Coordinator. The committee structure includes:
- • Academic Panel: IAP will prepare questions
- • Scrutiny Team: IAP and IPA will review all questions
- • Technical Team: Will manage the online platform
- • Local Organizing Committee: Will handle venue arrangements, logistics, hospitality, and stage management
- • Neutral Judges: Will ensure fair evaluation during the final
